In 1967 Ib Andresen founded the business still owned by the family. The number of employees reached a total of 20 as early as in 1970. At that time the company became renowned for the cutting of steel coils. This success story has continued to this day. The initial small family business has developed into a major enterprise with international activities and companies in Norway, Sweden, Hungary and Thailand, which has specialised in processing steel and metals.

For more than 40 years Ib Andresen have provided solutions for various industries, amongst them the wind, the solar, as well as the transport and building industry. Based on excellent material expertise and efficient new process technologies, the products meet all kinds of customer requirements. Quality assurance measures are an integral part of the organization and have been certified per ISO 9001.

Their great know-how makes Ib Andresen one of the most important companies in the wind industry. For more than 30 years the company has been the main supplier of tower constructions. More than 4,000 square steel towers of up to 40 m in height have already been produced and delivered to locations all over the world. Ib Andresen are always looking for the most effective use of wind power and, in doing so, have developed a new tower to replace the traditional round towers in welded design. Manufacturing & Technology

The company Ib Andresen from Denmark has decided on a VISION-III-T manufactured by Reichenbacher to ensure the efficient production of wind power stations. This machining centre performs several processing steps in wind tower production. The steel plates, which are shaped in advance by a plasma cutting unit, are automatically taken into the machine by a transverse conveyor and positioned. The roller conveyor, the transverse conveyor and the centring device align the plate on the machine table. Then, the steel plate is clamped by vacuum pins that have been adapted to the work-piece contour by the programme.

A probe measures the exact contour of the work-piece in several places, and then the NC-programme is corrected accordingly to permit the closest processing possible of the work-piece. The powerful milling spindle moves again along the outer contour, and a special miller simultaneously rounds the edges at the top and the bottom side of the plate.  As the plates are not always level, this process is assisted by a sensor device. This ensures that the rounding is always in the correct position. Notches, which have been caused in statically critical points by the plasma cutting process, are removed by finishing the entire plate contour along its sides.
